Troutmaster Junior Championship Rules
1) Only official stewards and finalists will be allowed at the waterside.
2) Each finalist will be supplied with unhooking forceps if required.
3) The first trout landed will be timed and recorded in a souvenir finalist card (all trout will
be counted and the timing of the first fish will be used in the event of a draw).
4) The only time a finalist can receive assistance from a steward is if they are tangled (this
rule has been introduced to allow for younger and less experienced anglers).
5) Landed trout must be unhooked whilst still in the net and the water. Once
unhooked, a steward will release the trout back to the water (this allows for minimum
handling of the trout).
6) There will be two senior stewards to release any doubles landed.
7) Under no circumstances will barbed hooks be allowed. Stewards will make random
hook checks throughout the competition. Any finalist found using a barbed hook will be
disqualified.
8) The final will start on the sound of two blasts of the horn, which will resound every
twenty minutes to signify moving to the next peg. Any finalist who has a trout on at the
sound of the horn must signal to the steward to be permitted to finish landing the trout.
9) Any deeply hooked trout will be dispatched by the steward.
10) No boobies are permitted.
11) Protective eye wear must be worn at all times whilst taking part in the
competition (polarised sunglasses are available on site for £15 with a complimentary
case).
Recommendations - Before the final, squash or remove all barbs on hooks.
Both Troutmasters and the fishery reserve the right to change any rules at anytime.
