A Key To Success

Bloodworm patterns have proved to be successful fish catchers on small stillwaters, but the problem was that most anglers fished the same patterns, so a new modernised version was needed - but keeping the bloodworm colour.
Originally, red rubber bands were used with red tying thread for the body. fish were more interested in this tying than the original marabou and non-tailed offerings. Flexi-Floss then became available and after a few tweaks, a new, modernised bloodworm-based pattern was born. It proved to be devastating and accounted for numerous match wins.
Keeping ahead of the game, we wanted a fly based on this bloodworm variant that would put fish in the net even faster, so the eight legged version was formed and the way this pattern pulsated on the draw meant that it was best suited to an intermediate line with a quick draw retrieve. Again this fly was proving deadly so that's why colour changes were introduced to see if it could be possibly be made better. The amber, followed by olive, did just that.
The smaller, more natural patterns are best fished on the curve with a slow, conventional, figure-of-eight buzzer-style of retrieve.
