Stonebridge Fisherman of the Year Top Ten Chart
Stonebridge Fisherman of the Year
Stonebridge fisherman of the year 2007 saw a forever changing top ten between Ritchie Campbell and Billy Campbell (not relatives) followed by Peter Fletcher going flat out to catch up along with Harry Freeman. As we know Harry pipped them all and became Stonebridge's first ever fisherman of the year 2007.
2008 started strong with Harry Freeman, Ryan Barron and Peter Fletcher getting off to a good start, followed by newcomers Dean Mordue and his fellow angler. Another newcomer, John Parker, caught incredible amounts of trout every visit including doubles and brown trout. He started to drift away in the last few months of the year leaving him in a static position in the top ten.
New kid on the block, Stuart Sexton from Scorton, turned up early in 2008 as an excellent coarse angler but a total beginner at flyfishing. After a couple of lessons and some practice, he hit Stonebridge like a whirlwind. Large numbers of trout and double after double saw Stuart take the lead in the top ten. Harry Freeman and Ryan Barron seperately took the lead from Stuart Sexton but it wasn't very long before he left them far behind and virtually impossible to catch, making him Stonebridge fisherman of the year 2008 in his first year as a flyfisherman.

Stonebridge Junior of the Year 2007
Junior of the year for Stonebirdge Fishing Lakes was created to encourage juniors into flyfishing. The idea came from a junior visiting on a father and son ticket. On his first visit he caught a 2lbs rainbow trout on our then second trout lake (Hergill). His pride, excitement and further visits packed with total commitment to the sport was inspirational. That is where the idea came from. Junior of the year therefore stands for effort, commitment etc so appropriately Stonebridge Fishing Lakes junior of the year 2007 is Matthew Collier aged 7 from York. He will receive a Stonebridge fly rod, cap, vest patch and the coveted trophy.
Stonebridge Junior of the Year 2008
After keeping the tradition of effort and commitment, it has been the most difficult decision by the team at Stonebridge to pick out one junior. The amount of good juniors runs into dozens but there has to be one winner. 2007 saw him begin to try out his new rod bought for him by his grandad (Ken Boardman). Patience as any 10 year old needs to have (and Ken) saw him take his early trout around 4lbs and then 5lbs and upwards. 2008 saw him strike the doubles and continue to progress with his sport. Forever patient and dedicated, Mark Moss from Darlington is Stonebridge Junior of the Year 2008 and will receive the usual prizes and name on the trophy.
Both Matthew Collier and Mark Moss attended the Salmon and Trout Association Junior Day. See Juniors section of the website for further details.
